Trident Hospitality along with key industry stakeholders, have today announced the launch of a new initiative for the events industry, with MICEgreen, an online portal designed to support an increase in sustainability in events.
This new not for profit programme, supported by a website, offers agencies, corporate buyers and venues a collaborative hub, where ideas can be shared and greener options for event delivery can be sourced – and a directory of green venues is also being introduced.
Those who engage with the programme have the opportunity to make either small or significant changes to their working practices which will eventually lead to both a formal accreditation and an awards event, recognising those who have introduced and established green initiatives within their own organisations.
MICEgreen will also be undertaking a roadshow later this year, where all event professionals can some together during small and engaging meetings, to discuss new options and share best practice ideas.
Kevan Holland of Trident Hospitality said: “Clients are increasingly looking to source greener venues and introduce more sustainability within their event schedules.
“Many of our independent venues are making huge steps with their approach to sustainability, but many buyers are totally unaware of what is happening and are swayed by group press and PR statements.
“MICEgreen enables the whole industry to unite and by making small changes individually, collectively we can make a huge difference and leave a more positive legacy of sustainable events within the industry.”
