Trident Hospitality was born out of frustration…
Prior to Trident, Kevan and Martin had both spent many years working for conference agencies and major national and international hotel brands. After meeting and becoming friends whilst working together at the Peter Rand Group, the pair realised they both shared a passion for the meetings and events industry. After supporting each other with various work projects and enjoying their mutual interest of real ale, Trident Hospitality Consultants was established and the business partnership began.
But moving across to work with independently owned venues, it became apparent engaging the agency community was going to be more of a challenge. Although the independent venues were as good as, and in some cases better than, branded properties they lacked the financial support or the marketing experience to get in front of conference agents.
Our Objective in Business
With over 50 years’ experience in the events and meetings industry, Kevan and Martin set up Trident with the aim to support independent hotels and venues in gaining their fair share of agency-generated business. Both wanted to work alongside selected partner venues to help them gain equal footing when bidding for RFPs against larger hotel brands, build business relationships and convert enquiries into revenue.
Representing only independent establishments, Trident Hospitality use their networking knowhow and industry contacts to introduce agents to their partner venues and showcase their USPs. This is also achieved through Trident’s unique and inspirational educational fam trips, providing agents the opportunity to discover an independent venue and enjoy themselves at the same time.
Working on behalf clients, Kevan and Martin act as account managers, trouble-shooters and negotiators striving to get the best deal for both a venue and agent.
Who Are we
Apparently has an opinion on everything and is right all of the time! Kevan was born to be in the hospitality industry, literally, he was born in a pub! Pub’s now being his spiritual home.
His career has spanned all aspects of the hotel and meetings industry – from operational through to unit and group sales. This has been interspersed with working with the UK’s first venue finding agency, Peter Rand Group, event management companies and production companies. This enables Kevan to have a view from both sides of the fence on behalf of a venue and agency.
Loves: Cheryl (his long – suffering wife), Oscar his dog, motorcycles, real ale, his grandchildren and sons…not necessarily in that order!
After failing to have enough skills to be either a professional footballer or cricketer, Martin’s next passion was food and drink. This passion saw him work at hotels in Canada and Germany, before returning to the UK to have a family and secure a job as a contract caterer before spells working with De Vere, THF and various other independent properties. He spent 10 years with the UK’s first venue finding agency, Peter Rand Group, and even worked at the first love of his life at Derby County Football Club!
Loves: Watching sport, walking his labradoodle Dixie and hard research work on real ale.
