This week, we’re handing over our guest blog to Claire from Venue Queen to hear her thoughts about recent events and how the business is realigning its position to suit a changing market…
Well, what interesting times we find ourselves in! Within the space of a few weeks, all our lives are turned around overnight. Nothing could have prepared any of us for what has happened, but it’s how we react to this now that will affect our future.
Here at Venue Queen we have been in the hospitality industry for a combined 50+ years – now that is scary! Over the last few weeks like many, we have watched the business for the next couple of months cancel altogether or postpone to later in the year or next year.
The corporate bookings have dropped off until we know what we are looking at on a timeline. But, on a really positive note we are seeing weddings and social events, for later on this year, 2021 and 2022 coming through and confirming – this has got to be seen as such a positive, business on the books, cash in the bank, and the diary filling up for when we are all open and functioning again as the ‘new normal’ whatever that ends up looking like.
Venue Queen offers a consultancy service to help independent venues increase their revenues and streamline their processes. We act as a white label service and become part of the team, using our experience and know how to access services and train from customer service to sales delivery. We have also seen this require temporarily pause for this service over the last few weeks.
Rather than sit back and let what we normally do stop, we have looked at what skills we have to offer and are caretaking venues allowing sales teams to be furloughed. We are manning switchboards and emails enabling reactive sales to still happen, bookings are coming in, which means deposits are going into the bank, enabling cash flows to keep flowing.
Sales teams are safe in the knowledge that when this is all over, we can hand everything back to them for their work to begin again, we are just babysitting the business. We need venues across the land to still be there with a viable business when this is over, and it will be over at some point!
We are hosting Zoom calls, for Dacorum Business Breakfast, our local networking that we run to give back to charity by showcasing local businesses. This week we have a solicitor talking all things furlough – a very hot topic! Last week we had a social media expert on, now is not the time to sell but it is the time to share tips, next week we have a Google My Business expert – it’s all about how we help businesses survive and be ready to come back alive and kicking!
Looking at the future, what can we offer? How do we help those, that for our business to function in the future, need your business to be open? This isn’t about making money, but it is about protecting our future and our beloved hospitality industry!
We want to see you on the other side of now, so please do shout if we can be of assistance or you just need to talk!
