This week, we’re handing over our guest blog to Karen from tobook and Search4Venues to hear her experience of how Covid-19 has impacted business and advice on how the industry can adapt moving forward…
This year is one I think we are all looking forward to ending and getting back on track for 2021.
The rest of 2020 will be spent re-establishing relationships as furlough has seen many of us sat at home waiting for that phone call to bring us back to the office.
Looking on the positive side
While the venue finding element of our business has slowed down, we are looking to book smaller meetings for our training client and accommodation for our automotive client. Other clients are deferring all face to face meetings until 2021.
We are trying to look on this positively as at least when they do book, they will be assured that the events will run and save us all the trouble of cancelling or rebooking. None of us want to go there again! So our focus has been on supporting venues up and down the country.
Search4Venues our online directory is available 24/7 and is a great way to ensure your venue is kept in the buyers’ mind. Whether it’s for corporate or leisure. And that’s probably the biggest change in our social media activity over the last few months. With many people not travelling abroad this year for holidays, we have been putting ideas together for the staycationer.
One of the many posts we put out recently was suggesting a day out at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and an overnight at Edgbaston Park Hotel, another was a walk in the grounds of Coombe Abbey followed by afternoon tea at the hotel itself.
It’s time for us to proudly show off what venues can offer, not to just the corporate buyer – but everyone.
How often do we go to Costa for coffee, when actually sitting in the lounge of a lovely hotel is far more relaxing and a much nicer experience. With larger venues able to offer so many other experiences than events, from drive-in theatres, family activities and stadium tours.
From September, we are concentrating social media on larger event venues to encourage those buyers looking for venues for exhibitions, conferences or product launches to get booking. Next year is going to be jam packed with so many events moving from 2020 to 2021.
We’ll also be encouraging our buyers to continue their staycations, with weekend breaks and afternoon teas, family visits and gatherings.
We have begun our venue visits to see how the Covid-19 measures are working in venues. There are some that have it licked and you barely notice it, while others have some way to go to ensure the guest experience is a great one.
We’re happy to share our experiences but one tip, leave the black and yellow tape alone – there is no place for that in this industry.
To further support our enhanced venues, we have launched our own YouTube channel: Search4Venues
This is where we can share your videos, 360 tours, Covid-19 measures and any other fun stuff you might want to share.
Through our social media activity we will be promoting our new channel and if you would prefer to add website links to your listing for your Covid-19 measures, send the link to email@example.com and we can add them to your listing.
There are no extra costs for these services, this is how we want to and are able to support you through this extraordinary time.
