Take a punt on Conference Cambridge

Open day showcases Cambridge as ideal location for events..

Representatives from 15 businesses covering a range of sectors including education, law and travel were given a VIP tour of Cambridge at the end of last week, highlighting the city as a perfect place to hold events.

The visit was organised by Conference Cambridge, the official free venue-finding service for Cambridge University and its Colleges as well as hotels and other unique properties in the city.

The delegation started the day at the Fitzwilliam Museum where they viewed the galleries before enjoying an introduction to the Cambridge food scene by Cambridge Food Tours at Fitzbillies. Then it was onto Gonville & Cauis, Stephen Hawking’s college in the historic heart of the city followed by a presentation by See Cambridge Differently, a guided tour operator which offers bespoke guided walks.

The party enjoyed lunch in the Wordsworth Room at St John’s College and an exclusive look around the facilities before taking a walk to the River Cam and a tour of Magdalene College. Aboard one of Scudamore’s chauffeured punts, they saw the famous College Backs, alighting at Trinity Hall for a look around and then ending the day with traditional English Afternoon Tea at Cambridge City Hotel.

Kelly Vickers, Manager of Conference Cambridge, said: “We were delighted with the response to our Open Day invitation and had a great time showcasing some of our venues and partner organisations.

“The sun shone and everyone went away with lots of ideas for ways to make their future events memorable. We look forward to welcoming them back in the future.”
